The Boston bombing provided the opportunity for the government to turn what should have been a police investigation into a military-style occupation of an American city. This unprecedented move should frighten us as much or more than the attack itself. — Ron Paul
Looking at what happened with Rand Paul Thursday night is a sign that the powerful are becoming less in control and starting to cower in fear. In retrospect, when the Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear had a similar encounter, only with the other side of the coin, it was the Three Percenters instead of Black Lives Matter. The players might of been different but the tactics were interchangeable. However, Rand Paul was reticent on the matter and never condemned or questioned who might be paying the militia group that was threatening, as Rand put it, a power hunger governor.
In his defense, Senator Paul, did introduce a bill to prevent no-knock warrants. This type of legislation would prevent a future Breonna Taylor from becoming a victim of trigger happy law enforcement officer that don’t knock first. However, as that case unfolds the no-knock warrant seems to be trivial to the entire case. The Senator is missing the forest for the trees, probably because he wants to cut the forest down or sell it to developers.
The hypocrisy of the Kentucky Senator is similar to what other Libertarian types convey when they are placed in a situation where their ideals come back on them. The constitutional rights, like the First Amendment is in the shredder when the going gets tough or the heat of the demonstrators focuses on them.
When it comes to Rand’s anti-war stance, I’m all for it and support him, but he is very quick to defund public services such as the postal service. Blindness must have overtaken him since the majority of his constituency lives in rural areas and depends on the post office for medications, payments, and bills. The Senator takes stances such as term limits but fails to apply them to his position, he preaches less government, but fails to limit the militarization of the police, and in turn makes him look like a empty suit.
